Victoria School IT Club
“Victoria is something more,
The school that watch'd us grow.”
Victorian Anthem
Our main aim is to develop the students’ potential and allow them to discover themselves.
The Victoria School IT Club is more than an ordinary IT Club. We train our members in most of the aspects of IT such as graphics design, web development, programming, game creation, and robotics. Every year, we continue to learn about new aspects of IT. For instance last year we ventured into Video creation. Also, we are planning to train our members in 3D movie and game creation. The skills and knowledge acquired by the students guide them to being a professional.
With the IT skills we gain from our trainings, we compete other schools in competitions such National Olympiad of Infocomm, National Software Competition, Singapore Games Creation Competition, International Thinkquest Competition and many more.
The students of IT Club organise nation wide events such as the National Education Web Design Competition and National Education Video Competition for the primary school students, with the help of the teachers-in-charge. We have worked with organisations such as the Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Police Force and Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts in organising these events.
We believe that through organising these events the students can discover their true potential. Through personal development, one can be a responsible person who will contribute positively to the society around him, which is in our case, the school. The personal development aspect can also help the Secondary One student to mature as a gentleman and become a leader in his own right. This also teaches them in communicating with people of different level and build confidence in the students themselves.
The IT Club also cares for the society. We have an e-learning program for the needy primary school students. Our partners for this project are Sinda, Mendaki, and SE Community Development Council.
The IT Club family consists of IT Club members of secondary 1 – 4, the teachers-in-charge and the Board of Advisors (BOA). The BOA is a board of devoted ex-Victorians who assists the club in organising events and camps.
IT Club members, through the different activities that we have, will find invaluable knowledge that cannot be found in textbooks and the internet.
The IT Club executive committee consisting of the President, Vice-Presidents and the Directors meet up to discuss about club issues and make decisions to develope the club and its members. The IT Club functions just like a commercial organisation.
