The Victoria School National Education Web Design Competition (NEWDC) 2006 has just been officially launched.
The theme selected for this year’s competition is ‘ Law and Order: Maintaining the Peace in our Heartlands ’. (Details are posted under ‘Information’).
Our objectives this year are:
- To engage students in learning and understanding more about Singapore. This is inline with the National Education objectives.
- To raise the awareness of primary school students about the safeguarding of Singapore and the importance of law and order in our society that makes it what it is today.
- To let the students know the difference of what is right and wrong, by working on topics such as gangs, drug trafficking, stealing, etc. By researching on such topics, they get a hands-on experience iced with the in-depth knowledge they may gain from the research process.
- To promote interest among primary school students to design web pages and create web content, as the Internet increasingly becomes an important mode of communication and a prominent resource for information, allowing them to learn more about technology in an IT oriented environment.
- To develop teamwork, co-operation and leadership together with communication skills among primary school students.
- To cultivate creativity and thinking skills in primary school students.
