IntroductionSingapore’s tourism industry was badly hit by the recent SARS outbreak. As reported by The Straits Times, 21 July 2003, “The Singapore Tourism Board said that the cruise industry looks set to bounce back after navigating the stormy weathers of SARS. Passenger figures should be back to normal by early next year.”
Besides, the industry is also facing competition from neighbouring countries in South-East Asia and the region. To ensure the survival of our tourism industry, strategies and improvements will have to be made to have to remain competitive. We must be innovative and have vision for the future, and continue to upgrade our attractions and keep them up-to-date.
