Blog

A blog or weblogs is a personal website where entries are written in journal style and arranged in reverse chronological order, the most recent addition on top.

Blogs often concentrate on a particular subject and written from the perspective of an individual on topics such as food, adventure, or politics, just like other media. Usually, blogs are written in an informal tone because it is sort of a diary that is published online. Some blogs are written by researchers and computer professionals to keep track of what they do everyday in their work.

Blogger

Blogger is a blog publishing system that enables users to create blogs and post entries. With its simple user interface, users can create a blog in just three steps (register an account, name your blog, choose your template) and quickly posting your thoughts, interacting with other people.

As Blogger is purchased by Google, Blogger users get to enjoy the benefits of Google products. The Google Docs and Spreadsheets allow users to save a Microsoft Word Document directly into their blog, and editing posts can be done online and offline. Integration of the Google AdSense service into Blogger enables users to generate revenue in very simple way.

Updating of a blog is also made convenient with the implementation of multiple authors support. This means that one blog can be managed by a group of people. These blogs are therefore called group blogs. One good example of a group blog is a class blog, whereby a group of classmates will handle it.

Review

Blogging is a way of human expression of what is happening around the blogger, just like a diary but it is published online. People can express their free opinion about certain issues on the blog. Friends of the blogger are also updated about the blogger’s activities and can respond to his/her point of view in their own blog.

But because of the freedom of expression, some bloggers post unpleasant comments or defamatory remarks to other races, religions or their business rivals, etc. This makes others upset and unhappy about it. In Singapore, writing discriminatory remarks about other races or religions is a criminal offence.
